Hank Skorny appointed senior vice president RealNetworks

MUMBAI: Digital entertainment services company RealNetworks has appointed Hank Skorny as senior vice president, Media Cloud Computing and Services.

"Over the past 25 years, Hank has been one of the great innovators in the PC, Internet, and mobile industries," said Real chairman and CEO Rob Glaser. "He’s a perfect fit to lead a new effort at Real to build an innovative set of products and services that leverage cloud computing to make digital media available to consumers whenever and wherever they want it. We’re excited to have Hank serve on the senior executive team at Real."

Skorny has nearly 25 years of executive marketing, business development, and engineering experience. He has been a successful entrepreneur, serving as CEO of Thumbspeed Inc. which was acquired by OZ Communications Inc. and subsequently acquired by Nokia. Prior to founding Thumbspeed, Skorny held senior executive positions at Infospace Mobile and AOL Mobile. His career has included general management, senior product management and engineering positions at Adobe Systems, Microsoft and Apple Inc.

Skorny serves on several boards, including TiE – The Indus Entrepreneurs and Enterprise Ireland. He has an active role in philanthropy organizations that focus on education and stimulating entrepreneurship. Skorny studied at Drexel University where he was awarded a scholarship for his early novel research in Xenon Fluorides, and by GlaxoSmithKline for his research in computer modeling of complex biochemicals.
