MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has promoted Todd Miller to executive vice president and managing director, Asia.
Based at SPTI’s Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, Miller is responsible for managing and coordinating the division’s licensing, network operations and local-language productions businesses in the region, and recently added oversight of SPTI’s mobile and digital content delivery initiatives throughout Asia. Miller reports to SPTI president Michael Grindon, who made the announcement today.
“Todd has built strong relationships with broadcasters, mobile carriers, digital outlets and content producers throughout the region. He has facilitated the explosive growth of our networks business; expanded distribution efforts in Asia, recently opening a licensing office in Korea; and has played a key role in expanding our local language production in the region. Asia is an important growth area for us and we’re thrilled to have Todd continue to head our businesses there,” said Grindon. “
Miller was previously SPTI’s senior vice president and managing director, Asia, since 2004. Under Miller’s direction, SPTI has been active in distributing Asian entertainment worldwide. In addition to two of the highest grossing Asian movies of all-time, Kung Fu Hustle and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, SPTI’s Asian portfolio includes the new CJ Media Inc. drama Hyena; the award-winning Korean anime series MaskMan; the Korean feature How to Keep My Love; Long Legged Beauty, a feature film from Vietnam; the Japanese anime series Humanoid Monster BEM and Blood+; the Japanese miniseries Tokyo Friends starring pop singer Ai Otsuka; and the Chinese feature Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles directed by three-time Academy Award nominee Zhang Yimou.
Prior to his promotion, Miller was senior vice president, international networks, Asia, from 2003 to 2004. Based in Singapore, he oversaw all operations and day-to-day activities of AXN Asia, the first 24-hour cable and satellite TV channel in the world exclusively dedicated to action and adventure programming.
