MUMBAI: KK and Sony BMG came together again after eight years to launch the former’s new album titled Humsafar. KK has sung and composed all the tracks for this album.
Comprising 10 tracks, Humsafar is being touted as a mélange of emotions, languages and cultural influences. Talking about the album, KK says, “I’ve wanted to do this album ever since after Pal. I wanted to give myself time to be ready. I just didn’t know it would take eight years.”
The Sony BMG association comes from his belief that all relationships are meant to last forever. In the interim he has sung many film songs, the latest being the sound track for Jannat (Vishesh Films).
The launch was attended by the likes of Anu Malik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Leslie Lewis, Shankar and Ehsaan, Hari Haran and Kailash Kher. KK also performed four songs from his new album.
Sony BMG managing director Shridhar Subramanium, who also worked with KK on his previous album, said, “The music is very rock, independent. It’s the kind of music we like. This album is going to be a best-selling album.” His undying support and belief in KK was apparent as he went on to say that, for him, KK was at the top. “KK is the best there is. Shaan and Sonu come close,” he said.
Talking about future projects for Sony BMG, Subramanium confirmed that it would be a busy year at Sony BMG, “We’re launching the new Strings album in late February-early March. Then there are quite a few debut artistes we’re planning to launch. They sound awesome; they’re going to blow everyone away.”
Ranging from the ballad-like Aasman Ke to the head-bangin Dekho na, KK seemed overwhelmed with the support and applause that came his way as he crooned these songs from Humsafar.
