[tps_footer]Tamil’s legendary filmmaker K Balachander was cremated in Chennai on Wednesday. People from film fraternity and thousands of his fans showed up to pay last respects to the revolutionary director.
Men and women stood in long queues to have a last glimpse of the idol, who died at the age of 84 on 23rd of December, 2014. Police and Volunteers had a tough time handling the crowd.

The funeral began at around 2 p.m. yesterday (24th December) from Balachander’s residence. The exemplary director was cremated at the Besant Nagar crematorium.
Balachander’s death sent shock waves through the film industry. Rajinikanth, who was devastated by the news, said yesterday, “Balachander was my friend, philosopher and guide. I’ve no words. I feel like I’ve lost myself. I pray God to rest his soul in peace. KB sir was not just my guru. He was my father as well. He also never saw me as an actor and treated me like his own son. He was like a god in human form and I feel lost in his absence.”
