Power actor Ravi Teja thinks that films like Baahubali 2 and his action comedy drama Telugu film Kick 2, which released today, will bring in the franchise culture in Telugu film industry. In a recent interview, the film’s star said that he is pretty confident that his film Kick 2 and Baahubali 2 will bring in the franchise culture.
“I’m confident that ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Kick 2’ will pave way to more franchise-based films. This is just the beginning of the trend,” Ravi said. The actor further went on and said that the success of a film in a franchise solely depends on the good script. Ravi said, “It’s a misconception that you make a second film in a franchise because the first one was successful. A writer has a very important role in building a successful franchise, and one of the reasons why ‘Kick 2’ even happened is because of our writer Vamsi.”
Ravi Teja’s much awaited film, Kick 2 hit the theatres today. The film is directed by Surender Reddy, Kick 2 also features Rakul Preef Singh, Ravi Kishan, Rajpal Yadav and Kabir Duhan Singh. The film si written by Vakkantham Vamsi, who also worked in Kick and hit films such as Yevadu, Race Gurram and Temper.
While talking about his film, Kick 2 star Ravi revealed that when they finished Kick, they thought about making a sequel but never really got back to it. But then the film’s writer Vamsi pitched the idea and they all felt it could be linked to the Kick franchise. Both the films have two different sories with characters that are poles apart.
Ravi Teja went on and cleared that Kick 2 isn’t a sequel but merely an extension of the franchise. The actor also assured that Kick 2 will take the audiences to a whole new level. Kick 2 is said to be more entertaining and commercial. The film is packed with action with right amount of comedy.
Ravi Teja’s Kick 2 was initially slated to hit the theatres a long time ago but the film’s release date got pushed. Some believe that the makers pushed Kick 2’s release date so that they can get an opening without Baahubali‘s frenzy taking over box office.
