Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s remark on intolerance in the country has put the actor into controversies where political leaders are attacking the actor by calling him ‘Pakistani’. After VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi attacked SRK by calling him ‘Pakistani agent’, BJP leader Kailash Vijaybargiya from Madhya Pradesh called actor Shah Rukh Khan anti-national.
Shah Rukh Khan who was honoured with Padma Shri in 2005, recently gave his take on the directors and others returning their awards in order to protest the intolerance. The actor in his statement said, “The country is becoming increasingly intolerant. Respect those who returned government awards, but (I) won’t return mine.” This hit the controversy for the actor where political leaders started calling Shah Rukh Khan anit-national.

In his series of tweets, BJP leader Kailash Vijaybargiya questioned Shah Rukh Khan that “where were you when hundreds were killed in the 1993 Mumbai serials blasts and during Mumbai 26/11 attack. He even called SRK as a ‘desh drohi‘ (a traitor). He added saying that while SRK was in India, his soul was in Pakistan and that when his films are making crores here, he is thinking of India as intolerant.
Well, is Shah Rukh Khan being attacked because he is an actor or his voice against the ongoing protest has put him in trouble? Where the writers, directors and others are returning their awards, Shah Rukh Khan in an interview expressed his feelings saying, “he would not hesitate to give up his awards as a “symbolic gesture” if he has to but feels he does not need to do so. “There is intolerance, there is extreme intolerance…there is I think… there is growing intolerance,” Shah Rukh said.
