Box Office: Arshad Warsi’s Welcome To Karachi’s First Weekend Collections

Welcome-To-Karachi-asicjbThe recently released Bollywood film Welcome To Karachi by director Ashish R Mohan had a very slow and poor first weekend run at the Box Office. The comedy drama film only managed to gross Rs. 5.50 crore net (55 million) approx. on its first weekend at the Box Office, including paid previews. This isn’t shocking as the film pulled poor numbers on its first day by grossing Rs. 1.35 crore net (13.5 million)approx. on Friday. The film however saw a decent growth on Sunday than it saw on its first day by doing a business of Rs. 2 crore net (20 million) approx. at the Box Office.

The film, which also stars Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb, had no major competition at the Box Office still the film failed to pull and attract moviegoers. Welcome To Karachi didn’t see any good occupancy rate at the Box Office. Compared to parts like Delhi, East Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal, the film did a good business in Mumbai.

Welcome To Karachi, which also stars Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb caught people’s attention with their trailer and songs, however, the film failed to pull in the crowd and saw very less footfalls. Maybe the reason behind film’s low business could be the fact that it doesn’t feature big names from Bollywood. The only main attraction in the film is actor Arshad Warsi and his performance in Welcome 2 Karachi is nonetheless delightful to watch.

Where new releases are failing to pull the crowds in theatres, Kangana Ranaut’s film Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which was released two weeks ago, is still doing better business than all the films running at the Box Office put together. The film grossed Rs. 28.35 crore net (283.5 million) approx. on its second weekend at the Box Office. The blockbuster of the year, Tanu Weds Manu Returns will most likely cross 100 crore mark by Monday.
