Box Office: Overseas Weekend Collection Of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

[tps_footer]Bollywood’s latest release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ starring Salman Khan has finished its first four day weekend run at the box office. The film has very well crossed the 100 crore mark after its four day run at the box office in India, and the overseas performance has also been astonishingly well. The film has managed to gain huge collections owing to the Diwali factor, but due to certain regions’ poor performance, sustaining the number in the long run has become difficult for the film.

‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ which was released on Thursday across US/Canada, UK and Gulf countries has raked in $8 million that is Rs. 52.80 crores net approx (528 million) in its total collections at the overseas box office after a four day weekend run. The film has grossed $2.5 million approx in US / Canada and Gulf while United Kingdom collections have been £625k approx. Comparing to films like ‘Dhoom 3′, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Happy New Year’, ‘PK’ and ‘Chennai Express’ that released overseas, PRDP enjoyed an extra day at the box office on Thursday. The film has become Salman Khan’s second best performing film overseas after ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

In India, since its release on Diwali, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ become the highest opening film of all time by collecting Rs. 39 crores net approx (390 million). The film collected Rs. 29.25 crores net approx (292.5 million) in its day two which is a little less than its day one collection, but strong nonetheless. Saturday collections for the film were Rs. 28.25 crores net approx (282.5 million), and after Sunday the total collection stands at Rs. 122.50 crores net approx (1.22 billion).

After joining the 100 crore club so easily after its first weekend run, we now wait to see whether ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ manages to touch the 200 crore mark after its weekday run at the box office.
