BIG Pictures gears up to release its first Punjabi film

MUMBAI: Reliance ADAG’s BIG Pictures is all set to release its first Punjabi language film Mera Pind – My Home directed by Manmohan Singh. This is Singh’s next venture after Mitti Wajaan Maardi.

Mera Pind – My Home stars Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann and also marks the debut of ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The film will be out in theatres internationally, on 5 September. It is being distributed overseas with a major focus on Canada, the US (21 prints) and the UK (23 prints). Additionally, the film is also being released in Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.

"There has been a noticeable increase in the consumption of regional Indian films apart from mainstream Bollywood flicks. It has always been our endeavor to reach out to the widest audience base possible," said BIG Pictures COO – international film business Jawahar Sharma.

Singh added, "The idea is to take a Punjabi film out of Punjab and market it all over the world. The film has all the ingredients of a commercial film along with a message for the youth and NRIs."
