MUMBAI: Producer Kumar Mangat, who had banned smoking on the sets of his forthcoming movie No Smoking, has collected Rs 1,50,000 in fines as penalty for breaking the rule.
The film, directed by Anuarag Kashyap and jointly produced by Kumar Mangat and Vishal Bharadwaj, is now complete. No Smoking stars John Abraham, Ayesha Takia, Ranvir Shorey and Joy Fernandes.
“Yes, I have collected Rs 1,50,000 in fines for breaking the rules. I intend to give the amount to charity. Initially, the fine was Rs 500, but when my crew didn’t comply, I increased the fine to Rs 1000, but they still broke the rule. The shooting is now complete after the Uzbekistan schedule, and I have planned for a 25 May release,” says Mangat.
“The movie is an anti-smoking feature film with a message. It’s a thriller about an arrogant, selfish man played by John Abraham, who’s a chain smoker, and agrees to give it up and go into rehab to save his marriage,” adds Mangat.
The film will have music by Vishal Bharadwaj, lyrics have been written by Gulzar, Rajeev Ravi is the cameraman, and the editing has been done by Bharti Bajaj.
