Mukta Arts’ Valu at Rotterdam film festival

MUMBAI: Mukta Arts’ Marathi film Valu, which is slated for release on 25 January, will also be the first Marathi film since the last 37 years to be screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival.


 


Valu was recently bought over by Mukta Arts for distribution across India. The company already has another Marathi film in production titled Kaande Pohe directed by Rajiv Patil and produced by actor Shreyas Talpade.


 


Valu has got four screenings at the Rotterdam Film festival. It is also the only Indian project, which has got post-production support from the Hubart Bals Fund, which is given to promising filmmakers. The rights of the film were bought by Hubart Bals fund even before the film was complete. It’s the first time in the history of Marathi films, that the film has got a distribution deal, before its completion in Luxembourg.


 

The international premiere of Valu will take place at the festival on 29 January. The film is directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni and stars Atul Kulkarni, Dr. Mohan Agashe, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Bharati Acharekar, Girish Kulkarni, Nirmitee Sawant and others. The music is by Mangesh Dhakde.
