Mumbai: Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan came together at Film City to dance for the promotional video of their forthcoming film Kismat Konnection directed by Aziz Mirza.
Shahid looked his usual cool self in shiny blue shoes and sported a far leaner body and cooler hairdo. However, what came as a total surprise was Vidya’s shimmery black and white outfit and sultry dance moves to the peppy and upbeat track composed by Pritam and rendered by Niraj Shridhar.
From doing a classical dance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa to grooving to western beats in Kismat Konnection, Balan is surely coming a long way. Telling us more on what did the trick for her this time, choreographer Ahmad Khan says, "Vidya has not done western dancing before this. With these dance moves, we have tried to trigger and showcase Vidya’s sensuality and beauty. Neither did she do any rehearsal, nor did she hear the song before shooting for it. She just came to the sets and did as we told her to and a good part is that she did not ask to change the dance steps."
Sharing her experience Vidya adds, "I took a little time to adjust because it was very new to me, but I trust Aziz Uncle and Ahmad implicitly. I would not have done this with anyone else because when you experiment with something new you do it with people who take care of you. Shahid is a fantastic dancer and however good I get I will not be able to match my steps with him, but I will try." While Kapur and Balan do dance together in the song, they also perform their solo acts.
In the film, Kapur is also doing a Justin Timberlake-like move for the song Aye Papi. On his song and dance with Balan he says, "I think Vidya is doing a very good job. I am very fortunate that I got training with Shaimak Davar, she is not trained, but does a lot of hard work." He is hopeful that the positivity of Jab We Met will rub off on Kismat Konnection.
Kismat Konnection also stars Juhi Chawla, Om Puri and Boman Puri. The music of the film will release in the third week of June.
The story of Kismat Konnection is conceptualized by Aziz Mirza’s daughter Rahila Mirza and the film is co-directed by his son Aroon Mirza. The film will release on 18 July.
