Tamil film Veyil to be screened at Cannes

MUMBAI: In what is believed to be the first time for Kollywood (Tamil film industry), Tamil film Veyil has been selected to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival this year.


 


The film festival will be held from 16 – 27 May 27 and Veyil will be screened on 19 May under the ‘Tous les cinemas du mond’ category.


 


Veyil has been produced and directed by Shankar and has seen a successful run of over 100 days. According to media reports, the film’s scripwriter Vasantha Balan is likely to attend the screening of the film at Cannes.


 


Shankar, on the other hand, is currently busy providing the final touches to Sivaji, the forthcoming Rajnikanth starrer.


 


Shankar’s production company – S Pictures – has produced the film. Veyil stars Bharath, Pasupathi and Bhavana amongst others.
