MUMBAI: Tips Films have now shifted its focus from distribution to production and artist management.
In order to resurrect its divisions, Tips Films has been aggressively signing directors. Apart from film production, the company now plans to strengthen its artist management department and has also signed a number of models, actors and technicians for their projects.
Recently the company inked a 10-film deal with television actor Neeru Bajwa. Says Tips Films managing director Kumar Taurani, “We have Neeru Bajwa and many more actors and models for our projects. They may not necessarily be films. We have our in-house music albums coming up, a Punjabi film Dil Apna Punjabi, which stars Neeru and have launched a regional artist Kaptan Laadi, in which she will feature too.”
Apart from regional artists the company is also launching a new singer Adil, who will be out with an album soon.
Taurani says that the company’s concentration will be on non-film music. Apart from this, Tips is also launching many directors. Kuki Gulati, who has been a video director, will debut this year as a director with a Tips film.
“There are four main leads in this film one of which is Harman Baweja. We will have two female protagonists in this film, which will be finalized very soon. Other than these, Dilip Tahil and Abbas Khan will play key roles,” informs Taurani.
Talking about their new business plan, he says, “We will produce four to five films per year. The budget for these will be anywhere between Rs 10 – 50 crores.”
The company’s forthcoming film Race, which stars Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif will hit the theatres by December end or early January. Also, the Shahid Kapur – Vidya Balan flick directed by Aziz Mirza is 95 per cent complete.
