Mumbai: UTV Motion Pictures’ third Hollywood co-production The Happening is amongst the 14th top world grosser of the year after collecting more than $162 million at the global box office.
The Happening, budgeted at $57 million, was released worldwide on 13 July. The movie collected $63.6 million at the box office in its opening weekend. As of 6 August, the movie has grossed $150 million at the worldwide box office.
The Happening is written and directed by Indian born, Hollywood director M. Night Shyamalan and co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures along with 20th Century Fox and Spyglass.
The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo and Spencer Breslin.
UTV’s first solo Hollywood production The Ex-terminators starring Heather Graham is under production.
