MUMBAI: Manish Malhotra’s show on Day 1 of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) was as star-studded as it could get. The ace Bollywood designer roped in four of Bollywood’s biggest directors- Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee And Zoya Akhtar, to walk the ramp to showcase his spring/summer collection.
The four fabulous filmmakers of the joint project ‘Bombay Talkies’, namely Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar were seen strutting down the ramp in signature black, designed by Manish himself.
A black sherwani for the uber fabulous Karan Johar, an elegant bandhgala for Anurag, an austere yet beautiful black churidar-kurta for Zoya and a black safari suit for Dibakar.
Malhotra’s collection at the LFW was an homage to 100 years of Indian cinema, and the top directors were the perfect choice to walk down the ramp at such a befitting occasion.
Said Manish, “I have grown up watching Indian cinema. My journey as a costume designer to movies for 23 years has been an emotional experience. I have loved cinema and cinema has loved me back. It has made me what I am today. When I got this opportunity to celebrate 100 years of cinema, I had to embrace this milestone and create a memorable collection reflecting my equal love for cinema and fashion.”
