On Wednesday, January 28, 2015, AIB (All India Bakchod) released via youtube, a first of its kind comedy show in India. They called it AIB Knockout – the Roast of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The show has some of the best comedians of AIB poking fun at the two stars, and they didn’t hesitate to blurt out whatever crossed their mind.
From personal lives of the actors, to their failures, their looks, careers, their in-film characters and even dirty toilet humour – nothing was left unexplored! The show happened at The National Sports Club of India, Worli, with almost 4000 audience attending it and Karan Johar playing the Roast-master.

Practically the concept of the show is to insult the people on the hot seat, with humour of course, and the actors have to be sporting enough to take them in the right spirit. Comedy in India had never been so ugly, rooted and ruthless! The youtube video starts with an explanation that “Roasting is a comedic art form that originated in 1949 in New York and has been adapted across the world since!”
“Roasting” celebrities have been a popular concept in the West where celebrities like Pamela Anderson, Joan Rivers, Charlie Sheen among others have been taken to task in a show called Comedy Central Roasts which is aired in United States.
