MUMBAI: Dharma Productions’ ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, directed by Ayan Mukherjee and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin has had a dream run as far as the box office collections are concerned.
Right from day 1, Mukherjee’s second directorial venture ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ has been scaling new heights and breaking box office records. The first 10 days have been fabulous for the Ranbir-Deepika starrer, and have certainly put a smile on the producers’ faces. The 10 day total stands at a staggering Rs 1.3472 billion (Rs 134.72 crore) net.
As reported, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ opened on 31 May, 2013 with an approximate collection of Rs 197.5 million (Rs 19.75 crore) net. Day 2 and Day 3 figures were in the range of Rs 202.3 million (Rs 20.23 crore), and Rs 224.8 million (Rs 22.48 crore) net. The week began on a great note, with Monday’s collections at approximately Rs 129 million (Rs 12.9 crore) net, while Tuesday too was a whopper, with collections at Rs 118.3 million (Rs 11.83 crore) net. Wednesday saw a slight drop, but the figure was still an unprecedented, impressive one for a weekday at approximately Rs 106.8 million (Rs 10.68 crore) net.
Thursday and Friday saw figures in the range of Rs Rs 87.2 million (Rs 8.72 crore) net and Rs 66.9 million (6.69 crore) net respectively. By EOD Thursday, the film had crossed the threshold and managed to garner over Rs 100 crore, thereby entering the Rs 100 crore club.
