Warner Bros, Sony Pictures And SingTel To Launch Hooq In India

Singtel-warner-brosHooq, which is a video on demand service will soon be launched in India by production companies Warner Bros, Sony Entertainment Pictures and Singapore telecom giant SingTel by June. The video on demand provider will offer movies and TV shows across all the major industries like Hollywood, Bollywood and regional cinema Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi amongst others.

The ad-free service will include Hollywood and Indian films sourced from the likes of leading production houses like Sony, Warner Bros, Disney, Dreamworks, Miramax, Disney India’s UTV, Reliance Entertainment, Yash Raj Films and Rajshri Films amongst others. Hooq, which has already set up its video on demand services in Thailand and Philippines will provide online as well as offline streaming through devices like computers, phones, tablets and set-top boxes. Following the footsteps of video-on-demand giant Netflix, Hooq aims at being Asia’s Netflix.

According to the officials of Hooq, the providers are set to bring India’s largest Hollywood catalogue where the audiences can select from a vast choice of over 5000 Hollywood films and famous TV shows as per their choice. For the Indian content, Hooq offers 10000 plus movies and TV shows in all languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi. Hooq will be available to all on rental basis costing 199 rupees per month.

Some of the Hollywood shows that the audiences can expect to see on Hooq include Nikita, The Sheild, F.R.I.E.N.D.S., Lost and Grey’s Anatomy. Films like Harry Potter, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Pulp Fiction etc. can also be streamed through Hooq. With the ever growing number of Internet users in India, the arrival of Hooq may be received positively by Indian audiences and as more and more of the youth have started following Hollywood shows, the likes of Hooq being a success amongst them is definitely high.
