[tps_footer]Singer Christina Grimmie who rose to fame after her participation in the ‘Voice’ aired in the US had succumbed to her wounds after being shot at in Orlando, Florida. The singer was shot down by an unnamed man who possessed two guns after her concert in Orlando late on Friday night. After Grimmie’s brother tackled him, the shooter went ahead and shot himself to death. The singer had finished her performance at The Plaza Live Theater along with the band ‘Before You Exit’, when the shooting broke out. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and died a few hours later.
In a statement her publicistHeather Weiss said, “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gunshot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.”
Grimmie started off as a YouTube singing sensation with a rather large and dedicated fan following before she was a part of the sixth season of “The Voice.” Her fans have been reeling from the shock and have been vocal about the same on social media. Mere hours before her untimely death, the singer posted a video on Twitter encouraging and urging fans to come out to the theater.
Nobody including the event organizers or the Police have any idea about how the gunman got a gun into the venue or whether attendees were checked for weapons. In any case, there will be a thorough investigation on this. “We don’t know if he was just a crazy fan that followed her on Twitter or on social media,” an Orlando police representative said. “We really don’t know … it’s undetermined at this point.”
May her soul rest in peace.[/tps_footer]
