LOS ANGELES: Dev patel who’s first foray into acting was in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ opposite Frieda Pinto, has now been signed on for ‘Defiant’ opposite Australian actress Toni Collette.
To be directed by Bill Bennet, ‘Defiant’ is based on the true story of a double honour killing in India. It will show the lives of two Muslim women who allegedly killed their daughters because they had eloped and married Hindu builders.
Patel’s role is of a young man who is trying to escape with his girlfriend from vengeful parents, while Collette will portray a journalist who is covering the story, reports contactmusic.com.
