Mumbai: Giving the Kollywood music industry its due recognition, Social Media India Ltd. announced the launch of Sunfeast Tamil Music Awards 2008 at a star-studded function held on 7 June. The event has been organized in partnership with music channel ISAIARUVI and Hello FM to honor and celebrate the achievements of Tamil music industry in the year 2007.
Director Mani Rathnam unveiled the Award trophy and distinguished cinematographer and director Rajiv Menon cast his first vote. The event was attended by some of the biggest celebrities and the who’s who from the Tamil film and music fraternity.
With the theme of ‘celebrating excellence in music’, the awards pay a tribute to the most popular songs and albums of the year in all spectra of music, right from Tamil Music to Cinema to Carnatic music and to Folk. The awards will be chosen by a mega public polling campaign conducted across the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
In addition to the promotional van, which would travel across 14 cities across Tamil Nadu to gather votes, the public can also cast their vote through www.bharatstudent.com. A special three-minute theme music for the awards composed by renowned singer and music director xxxx Srinivas includes voices of Srinivas himself with ace singer Anuradha Sriram.
