MUMBAI: Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra who has finally joined her contemporaries on the “item song” bandwagon, has decided to do it, her way!
Priyanka Chopra’s first item number for Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Shootout At Wadala’ is not going to have a ghagra choli performance amidst a mob of men, as is the trend seen in the past.
The ‘Badmaash’ actress has been spotted on sets, wearing an edgy costume of rubber and leather a la Cat Woman, looking super sexy and strong. What’s new, is that the outfit designed by Manish Malhotra has LED lights all around it – something similar to Amitabh Bachchan’s jacket in ‘Yaarana’s (1981) for the popular disco number ‘Saara Zamana’.
“Manish has retained the 80s feel, yet lent it a contemporary flavour,” said an insider.
“She’s electric as Badmaash Babli! Check out Priyanka Chopra’s exclusive look in Shootout At Wadala!” tweeted ‘Shootout At Wadala’s official handle along with a picture of the actress.
The number choreographed by Ahmed Khan is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, and composed by Anu Malik. In light of the recent attacks on Bollywood for “promoting objectification of women”, Priyanka herself assessed the lyrics for any defamatory or suggestive lyrics.
Co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Sanjay Gupta, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ stars John Abraham, Sonu Sood, Tusshar Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Mahesh Manjrekar and Kangana Ranaut. The film is all set to hit the screens on May 1, 2013.
