MUMBAI: The poster of the upcoming romantic film ‘Aashiqui 2’ professes the tag line “Love makes life live”. It shows the lead actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor drenched in the rains having an intimate moment covered under a jacket.
For the makers, the aim of ‘Aashiqui 2’ is to bring back the forgotten golden period of cinema, with soulful music, beautiful chemistry and a ‘can’t live without each other’ love story. “’Aashiqui 2’ ushers in the glorious golden period of cinema a switch from lust to love and body to heart…It celebrates middle class values and brings back the kind of cinema that our audiences have forgotten once entertained them to the hilt,” shared producer Mahesh Bhatt.
‘Aashiqui 2’ is a sequel of the 1990 blockbuster hit film ‘Aashiqui’. And like the original, the sequel also focuses on music as an important ingredient. The songs from the original are still heard and quite popular.
Wanting to make a romantic film, Bhushan Kumar, the co-producer had approached Vishesh Films to take the franchise forward. And when he and Mahesh Bhatt heard Shagufta Rafique’s heartbreaking narrative of a ‘grownup’ love story, they were all set to make a film filled with emotions. Bhushan Kumar shares, “’Aashiqui 2’ announces the return of simple heartfelt cinema that is high on emotions and content. The music is reminiscent of the kind that put T-Series on the charts and we are extremely proud to take the franchise forward… ‘Tum hi Ho’, ‘Sunn Raha Hai’ and the rest of the album is gaining the same success similar to ‘Aashiqui’ (1990).”
‘Aashiqui 2’, directed by Mohit Suri, has garnered a U certificate and is scheduled to release on April 26, 2013.
