MUMBAI: With only a few days to go for the release of much-anticipated superhero film, ‘Krrish 3’, starring Hrithik Roshan, box office anticipation is at an understandable high.
‘Krrish 3’ is the third film in the ‘Krrish’ franchise of superhero films: the first being ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, which released in 2003; and then came ‘Krrish’ which saw a 2006 release. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, ‘Krrish 3’ stars his son Hrithik Roshan playing the superhero, along with Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi.
The film franchise has been loved by both children and adults alike, making it a super-successful series. In such a scenario, ‘Krrish 3’ too looks poised to rule the box office when it releases this weekend, on 1 November, 2013.
We spoke with a top official of a leading multiplex houses, to get a sense of the buzz anticipated for ‘Krrish 3’.
Said the top official of a leading chain of multiplexes, on condition of anonymity: “The buzz for ‘Krrish 3’ is expected to be very big. We anticipate the film to come into the bracket of the biggest blockbusters of this year and break many records. The strong opening may lead to single day records being broken, as ‘Krrish 3’ is releasing during Diwali.”
Adding that it could well pose stiff competition to this year’s monster hit, ‘Chennai Express’, he added: “Oh yes, there is a strong possibility of ‘Krrish 3’ touching Rs 200 crore, and even possibly breaking the record of ‘Chennai Express’, as it is coming on the festival of Diwali.”
