Comcast and MGM ink partnership to launch VOD channel

Mumbai: Comcast Corporation and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios announced a partnership to launch Impact, the first video-on-demand (VOD) channel dedicated exclusively to action programming.

The new channel, available first to Comcast customers this week, features a host of exciting and popular action films and television shows, many available in high-definition (HD), that will captivate adventure seekers and fans of action, one of the fastest growing movie categories at the box office.

"The Comcast on Demand platform is the perfect environment for targeted marketable brands and programming," said Jim Packer, Co-President of MGM Worldwide Television. "With more than 1,000 titles in the MGM library that fit our new brand, I’m confident action fans will find Impact a one-stop destination for all of their action entertainment needs."

Within the first year, Impact will premiere many of the most successful films in action history, including movies from the James Bond series, Rocky, Magnificent Seven, and Robocop. Impact will also kick-off its programming with some of its most popular action stars from the MGM library such as Chuck Norris, Sylvester Stallone and Charles Bronson. As an ongoing part of this VOD channel, there will be special programming themes created around the popular action genres including thrillers, crime, espionage, westerns, war films, and martial arts.

"MGM’s vast library will give action fans access to their favourite movies at anytime through On Demand, with many available in HD, further complementing our growing HD offering."

The Impact VOD channel joins Comcast’s current VOD line-up of blockbuster movies, new television series the other new viewing choices that are part of the company’s Project Infinity, a commitment to deliver exponentially more content choice on TV, including more HD, sports, movies, kids’ programs, and network TV shows.
