The much awaited historic film based on the life of Rani Rudhramadevi starring actress Anushka Shetty finally has an official release date. The star studded film including actors Rana Daggubati, Allu Arjun and Nithya Menen in pivotal roles is all set to hit the theaters this June 26. After creating quite some hype about the film in the recent audio release, the film’s official Twitter handle broke the news to fans who are eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
Sharing the film’s poster the tweet read, “Here’s the BIG News! #Rudhramadevi releasing on June 26th in Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam simultaneously! RT & STW!” Director Gunasekhar had earlier planned on roping in Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra for the lead role. After watching Anushka’s performance in her film Arundhati, the filmmaker immediately chose the actress to essay the role of queen Rudhramadevi. Actor Rana will be playing the role of king Chalukya Veerabhadra.
It was only after actor Allu Arjun voluntarily took up the role of Gona Ganna Reddy that the film progressed further. Earlier actors Mahesh Babu and Jr. NTR were approached for the role but both turned it down. With an impressive star cast and direction of the Nippu filmmaker, Rudhramadevi also has pioneer Ilaiyaraaja giving its soundtrack and background scores. Cinematography of the film has been done by Ajayanan Vincent and the film is being produced under director Gunasekhar’s banner Gunaa Team Works.
Rudhramadevi also stars actors Vikramjeet Virk, Krishnam Raju, Prakash Raj, Suman, Adithya Menon, Aditi Chengappa, Catherine Tresa, Hamsa Nandini, Ajay, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Ahuti Prasad, Venu Madhav and Prabha amongst others in pivotal roles. Rapper Baba Sehgal has also been roped in to play the character of Naga Devudu in the film. Lead actors Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati also have S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali coming out on July 10.
