Almas Noor like any ordinary little girl grew up singing evergreen Hindi film songs from the tender age of six. The only difference being she was Malaysian and loved singing in a language completely alien to her.
She would steal time with her siblings to go watch a night show of popular hindi films starring Dharmendra, Mumtaz and Rajesh Khanna and her idols were Sadhana and Asha Parekh.
Nobody ever imagined that one day she would be crowned Queen as her husband was the King of a state in Malaysia.
So apart from juggling between her royal duties and charity work , today she has music albums to her credit and has successfully collaborated with singers like Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Shaan, Javed Ali, Zubeen Garg, Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu along with International artistes from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Of all the talented singers, Almas Noor feels that it’s Kumar Sanu who’s golden voice suits her style the best.
“I like all the singers, all of them have their own unique quality but then if I have to pick on anyone, then it was to be Kumar Sanu because his voice suits my voice the best. I’ve loved his voice with his romantic Aashiqui songs. For me he is an amazing and versatile artist and I really enjoy working with him.” said Almas Noor with a beautiful smile.
Almas Noor always dreamt that one day like the voices that backed these super stars, she too would sing in Hindi and be known for her unique singing talent.
DO CATCH THE YEH VAADA RAHA VIDEO: Though Almas Noor is a foreigner she never stopped dreaming, nor did her sincere efforts cease and the outcome has been fantastic and well received by the market.
A couple of months ago, Almas Noor released her album titled Hum Aur Tum with Kumar Sanu. Hum Aur Tum is a refreshing re-mix album with memorable romantic songs from the late 1960’s to 1970’s an era loved and cherished by both artistes.
The album Hum Aur Tum, was creatively headed by Shruti Vohra, re-mixed by Jatin Sharma and has memorable tracks like Jaane Jaan, Kya Yehi Pyar Hai, Hum Aur Tum, Kora Kagaz etc. and has been presented by Times Music.
Almas Noor has now gone a step further in realising her singing dreams. She is currently working on another album and this time around it’s a collection of Original songs, the only difference being it will be in different Indian languages such as Tamil Bengali, Punjabi, Assamese etc.
Once again she collaborates with different artistes as well as Kumar Sanu, and if all goes well then the album would be out by year end.
When asked which Bollywood actress inspires her today Almas says, “To be honest they are all pretty but none of them have a distinct personality and only imitate each other. Nothing can beat the magic of Hema Malini’s grace and elegance, Asha Parekh’s vivacious style, Mumtaz’s sexiness and Sadhana’s trendsetting fringe.”
Looking forward to more and more soulful renditions from Almas Noor in the future and wishing her the best!
