After a lot of speculation and repeated denial by both Chitrangada Singh and her golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa about the cracks in their marriage, the couple have officially called it quits.
Yes! the news is now official; Chitrangada Singh and her golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa have officially been granted divorce by a Gurgaon family court.
Chitrangada married Jyoti in the year 2001. The couple has a five year old son Zorawar Randhawa, whose custody has now been granted to Chitrangada.
Chitrangada who was last seen in I, Me Aur Main opposite John Abraham, is currently working on the Tamil film Anjaan, where she is doing a cameo.
It was reported in May 2013 that Chitrangada and Jyoti had filed for divorce at a family court in Gurgaon. It was also reported that the couple had mutually consented to part ways after going through a rough patch for a long time. The court then had asked them to reconsider their decision and scheduled the next hearing for November 11, 2013.
Chitrangada’s spokesperson had refuted the reports then and said the actor’s frequent trips to the family court were to do with “an internal settlement of a property issue”. However, as it turned out, the couple had actually filed for divorce and it was granted on November 11, 2013.
Chitrangada’s counsel Osama Suhail said, “I can neither deny nor confirm the divorce. It is a matter of public record.”
Sources said the trouble began in the marriage when Chitrangada decided to pursue her film career and settled in Mumbai. Jyoti is based in Delhi. The couple is yet to confirm the news of the divorce.
Chitrangada Singh started her career in Bollywood in the year 2003 in the critically acclaimed Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi which was directed by Sudhir Mishra. She stayed away from acting from 2005 to 2008. She then made her comeback in Onir‘s Sorry Bhai which also starred Sanjay Suri.
