BOX OFFICE: Day 1 For ‘World War Z’

MUMBAI: ‘World War Z’, starring Hollywood’s biggest star Brad Pitt, with Matthew Fox and Mireille Enos, directed by Marc Forster, has not really set the domestic box office on fire, like it was expected to have.

Produced by Brad Pitt, the zombie-styled apocalypse film failed to move Indian audiences on day 1. The larger-than-life action film was expected to do roaring business, coming close on the heels of Hollywood super blockbusters like ‘Iron Man 3’, and ‘Man of Steel’, but it has failed to live up to the hype.

Globally too, the ‘World War Z’ is being touted as a box office disaster.

Said Mr. Rahul Singh of PVR: “Brad Pitt’s ‘World War Z’ has opened steadily, but is not doing fantastic business so far. The morning show was average, but we will know the true picture by the evening shows.”

A spokesperson for the single-screen theatre Rex Cinemas, Bangalore said that the film opened to two shows in their theatre, and that it was doing average business, but it was too early to reveal occupancy figures. The weekend looks promising according to them.
